Hello Readers,
Welcome to my long overdue website remodel!
According to NeoCities, I took this name about 7 months ago with the fasination of creating a new website just for myself. As one who has graduated from an Australian with a batchelor's degree in IT, my past portfolio website was devoted to my employability skills.
However in the recent years I came to the realisation that portfolio website was going to cost me about 100 Australian dollars to run, thats just to keep the domain name and the basic details up on a pretty simplistic, single page website.
Clearly, I seem to lack some of the devotion to turn that website into a fully functioning web blog/journal with new posts sent out every week or even second week but non-theless I wanted something that made me feel like I had some sort of importance on the internet. No doubt, NeoCities was going to be the best location for that endevour. After all, I had spend many hours on the internet troughout my teens and into my 20s and the idea of putting that kind of stuff on to a professional looking portfolio wouldn't have felt right.
Last, year when I faced a year of employment outside of the feild of IT, in telephone interviews and supermarket jobs, and I found myself in the odd mood I would sit down and write. It beat writing another boring cover letter every now and then. However, all these would fall to the scrapped ideas folder as I never intended to finish or edit over them. All the big blog pieces were held on Old Blog which was a completely seperate ambition from last year that was intended to be a break away from my portfolio, but that was always found through my portfolio...
I took it off my website as someone going over it said it "might have needed some work" which otherwise could have been read as "this is a silly thing to have on your portfolio if you have remotely nothing else there". That website got moved here, under this web address you got in your address bar. As much as I wanted to tell myself that Old Blog was a cool idea it definately wasn't original and there was little to no effort in its design other than putting some funny formatting and gifs into it.
So now this website exists :)
This certainly isn't the look for the website that I intended, but as stated previously, its time I got it out the door. If there is anyone who came to the website before this; it was Old Blog and now its something new so the prophecy has been fulfilled. I know javascript, svgs, php and things like that so there is a LOT I could probably do with NeoCities, but this is the easiest thing to whip together quickily without much effort. I'm feeling like I can start doing some things now.
