"Hey! How's that Jolly Wangcore Mod going?"

If you've been paying attention to recent posts on my site, you are probably wondering then that Jolly Wangcore mod is being released. You might also have realised that I have suddenly gone from one post a week to one a month. Have I been slacking off?

The simple answer is yes. The excuse is I had a 2 week break from work and I wanted a break from the "I need more for my IT portfolio" grind. Not to worry though, I have been doing work on the Jolly Wangcore mod to get it released sometime this year and I have decided that this post is going to be the first (and probably the only) update post on the mod. I've also released some more jolly vods from my magnificent personal archive. That one is going to be at the bottom of the page however, because I want you to get a glimpse of the work I've been doing.

Balatro Mod

If I recall properly, I mentioned that this mod was going to be released sometime late Feburary or March. I've kind of extended the scope on the project as I've descoverd more and more things I can do with Balatro modding.

Here is a table with the mostly complete cards('***' is a placeholder for perhaps inappropriate names):

This Joker gains +10 Chips for each 2, 3, and 4 in hand at end of round. +1 hand size for each Ace discarded before a hand is played. After defeating the Boss Blind, receive a Wheel of Fortune. If all cards in played poker hand are Debuffed, gain +15 Mult and score played cards normally. Skips to payout if sold during a Small Blind.

Most of these cards are good and balanced. I think the +15 mult on the disabled permit card is pretty balenced considering it would be pretty rare to have a situation where all cards in a hand were debuffed. If the added mult wasn't there, I don't think that card would be worth buying.

The two of these that I am iffy on is Trash-Quatch and Fetch Quester. In the time that I've played the game, I've found that its pretty easy to start adding heaps of aces to your hand. If I make Fetch Quester +2 hand size, it might be too much. It could probably also be an uncommon, but that might devalue it. As for Trash-Quatch, it's just a matter of how much chips is gained per round. I expect this joker to be utilised within a High Card build, while also being a sort of mediocre card. The most I would probably change it to is 13 chips.

As for the rest of the cards, they don't have their artwork complete yet. So here's a less interesting table:

+4 Mult. Sneak 2 random playing cards into your opening hand at the beginning of Small and Big Blinds to keep. Before a Queen is scored, give it a squirrel stamp. This joker gains X0.25 mult for each squirrel stamp applied this run. When a single {random rank} is played, apply +20 Chips and +2 Mult before scoring and destroy this. At the end of round, this card doubles its values and changes the required card's rank. If your deck contains the same number of cards as it always has ({initial deck size} cards), gain x2.5 Mult. Double if all are base. [shows current amount in deck and number of enhanced]

Vandilised joker just needs art. As for the others, their abilities still need to be worked out and might change. I have put a reasonable time into making the Nuts 4 U card but I came across many problems when it came to adding the functions to the squirrel stamps and that has kind of brought me back to square one on that one.

The way I see it, the Rare cards are going to be the hardest to balance. I want to add creative rares to the mod that almost seem better than the standard rares in the game while also remaining reasonably balanced. As soon as I get on to the coding for Tiny Glade and Once in a Lifetime, I don't expect it will be that hard. Doing the art for those might take some time though.

Lastly, I want to add one or two legendary cards to the expansion as well as 5 special card types that will form a new poker hand. I'll keep those secret for now.


New Vod Uploads!

Pog! New old twitch vods!

These uploads are super special by the way. From what I've seen on Internet Archive and Youtube, these are the oldest Jolly Wangcore Vods you can find on the Internet! They are the STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl vods from late 2019. They are 5 videos over 5 years old so don't expect to see these in a Jolly Wangcore youtube video anytime soon.

They have some music at the start of the videos so they might not be able to be viewed from this site but I will leave a link to the playlist I've made here if you can't.
